The Tee
This is a very difficult and demanding hole. It requires two very good shots to reach the green in regulation and even then a par is no easy task. The fairway is very narrow with trees running encroaching all the way down the right side. The hole doglegs slightly to the right and the fairway slopes that way so shots will tend to feed towards the trees. It is difficult to play a draw on this hole because of how close the trees are and a fade will usually end up in deep trouble.
This is a picture from the right side of the fairway looking back towards the tee. You can see how everything feeds down towards the trees.
The Approach
This is the view from about 180 yards from the green. There are two bunkers on the right side of the green (you can see the first one) and another over the top of the fairway mounding on the left side of the green. The green is very contoured so it will take a very good shot with a long iron to hold the green. There is open area to the right of the rightmost greenside bunkers but that will leave you a very difficult chip, as you will see later.
This is a good example of the fairway mounding that you will find on many of the holes at Crystal Downs.
The Green, Part I
This is the shot that you will be faced with if you hit a bad drive or short approach. You can see some of the contours of the green. An extremely accurate shot is required to get near the flag.
The Green, Part II
This is a view of the green from above and behind the green. You can see the contours that form the front of the green.
This is a picture from the back edge of the green. The center of the green is severely uphill from here.
This is a picture that you will have either out of the right-hand bunkers or from the bail out area. You will have an uphill chip or sand shot to a difficult green to hold. Actually, it is probably better to be in the bunker because you should be able to get better spin on the ball and get it to stick.
